After by Amy Efaw

After by Amy Efaw

An infant left in the trash to die. A teenage mother who never knew she was pregnant . . .
Before That Morning, these were the words most often used to describe straight-A student and star soccer player Devon Davenport: responsible, hardworking, mature. But all that changes when the police find Devon home sick from school as they investigate the case of an abandoned baby. Soon the connection is made—Devon has just given birth; the baby in the trash is hers. After That Morning, there’s only one way to define Devon: attempted murderer.
And yet gifted author Amy Efaw does the impossible— she turns Devon into an empathetic character, a girl who was in such deep denial that she refused to believe she was pregnant. Through airtight writing and fast-paced, gripping storytelling, Ms. Efaw takes the reader on Devon’s unforgettable journey toward clarity, acceptance, and redemption.

Candor by Pam Bachorz

In a town where his father brainwashes everyone, Oscar Banks has found a way to secretly fight the subliminal Messages that turn even the most troubled kids into model citizens. On the outside, he's the perfect Candor teen, and no one knows that he's built an entire business around helping new kids escape before the Messages take hold.

But then Nia Silva moves to town, and Oscar thinks she's perfect exactly the way she is. Soon he must make a choice: let Nia be lost to the brainwashing, or help her stay special and risk himself in the process.

Location Updates + More

If you have one of these books or just sent out one of these books, let me know in the comments. This is so everyone keeps updated. Also, if you know which # you are on the list, it'd be helpful if you'd leave that in the comments too. I lost some of the checklists so I don't know how far the books have gone.

The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting (BOTH copies)
Beautiful by Amy Reed (sending the copy I have out Monday)
After by Amy Efaw (BOTH copies)
The Kindling of Greenfyr by Mark Freeman (again, BOTH copies)
The Miles Between by Mary E. Pearson
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
DupliKate by Cherry Cheva
Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev
Hottie by Jonathan Berstein
Invisible Touch by Kelly Parra

I'll be sending out Ballads of Suburbia tomorrow.

Also, who was after Lauren (Shooting Stars Mag) on the After Tour? She was sent the wrong checklist and I wrote over mine so we need to know. Leave a comment and let me know if it's you!

New Policy

Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll (see post below). The general agreement seems to be that including Canada is a great idea, as long as the same people aren't sending the books every time.

However, a few said they'd prefer not to and quite a few people didn't vote. So, here's the new policy.

1 ARC Tours is now open to bloggers from the US and Canada. At this time, those are the ONLY countries accepted. However, to keep it fair for everyone, when you comment on tours, include the following info:

If you're Canadian or US(ian).
If you're in the US, will you ship to Canada?
As well as your email.

Canadians, I'm told that it costs more to ship from Canada to the US than from the US to Canada so please keep that in mind when signing up for a tour. Since there are many more US bloggers, it's almost guaranteed you'll be shipping to the US.

Bloggers in the US, you do NOT have to ship to Canada but if you don't mention "I'll only ship to US" in your comment, I won't know and you may get signed up. However, I'm going to try to mix up the bloggers sending to Canada. If you're okay with shipping occassionally, mention it. I'm going to try to make it so no one ships to Canada more than once a month (it may end up being less!).

If you have any questions about this, email me or leave it in the comments.

Quick Poll

So it seems that we have a few members living in Canada who signed up without letting us know they were out of the US. They're respected bloggers and Hope and I have been discussing whether or not we should open the tours to Canada bloggers. My main issue is the shipping - I'm not sure how much it is but Hope said it wasn't much more than shipping to the US. Since it'll be the members shipping the books, I want your input:

Would you be willing to ship books to Canada as part of the tour?

It has just come to my attention that it doesn't specify in the guidelines whether or not this program is US only. To clear everything up:

We accept books published in other countries but all bloggers MUST live in the US. Even if there's a US address the book can be sent to, it won't work with this program due to the limited time we have to get the book to each person (and the higher risk of damage when it crosses seas).

It also came to my attention that there's at least one member who lives outside of the US that I wasn't aware of until today. I sincerely wish that it was feasible for us to include everyone but it's not. If you have signed up but do not live in the US, please email me to let me know so I can update the tours as needed.

If there are more members in this situation, I am truly sorry.

Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Keuhnert

Kara hasn't been back to Oak Park since the end of junior year, when a heroin overdose nearly killed her and sirens heralded her exit. Four years later, she returns to face the music. Her life changed forever back in high school: her family disintegrated, she ran around with a whole new crowd of friends, she partied a little too hard, and she fell in love with gorgeous bad-boy Adrian, who left her to die that day in Scoville Park....
Amid the music, the booze, the drugs, and the drama, her friends filled a notebook with heartbreakingly honest confessions of the moments that defined and shattered their young lives. Now, finally, Kara is ready to write her own.
Here's the tour list for Ballads. If you're on and need to be taken off, comment. If you want to be added, comment. No changes will be made after 6PM EST TODAY.
