Smells Like Dog by Suzanne Selfors

Meet Homer Pudding, an ordinary farm boy who's got big dreams-to follow in the footsteps of his famous treasure-hunting uncle. But when Uncle Drake mysteriously disappears, Homer inherits two things: a lazy, droopy dog with no sense of smell, and a mystery.

Why would his uncle call this clumsy dog his "most treasured possession?" And why did he put a gold coin on the dog's collar?

And who will continue Uncle Drake's quest-to find the most coveted pirate treasure in the world?

Join Homer, his sister Gwendolyn, and Dog on an adventure that will test their wits and courage as they leave their peaceful farm and head into a world where ruthless treasure hunters hide around every corner. Where they discover that Dog has a hidden talent and that treasure might be closer than they ever imagined. . .

Witchy Worries of Abbie Adams by Rhonda Hayter

Abbie Adams and her family come from a long line of witches, and she's having a tough time keeping it a secret from her best friend and the rest of her school. Especially the day her little brother morphs into a wolf and tries to eat his teacher.

That's also the day her father brings home a kitten. Abbie's been begging for a cat for months, and she falls in love with that fluffy fuzzball right away. But there's something peculiar about this kitten, and it just might take a witch like Abbie to figure out what it is.

New Changes

I want to thank everyone who left their suggestions back in January. There were two things that pretty much everyone suggested - track the books and speed up the process. With that in mind, we are making two new changes:

1.) From now on, you will only be able to keep the book for 1 week. This means that as soon as you get the book, you should begin reading it. This is to speed up the process and keep everyone on track. Failure to do this regularly will result in suspension from future tours.

2.)I've enlisted the help of some fellow reviewers to track the books. Soon, the "Book Locations" post will be updated with a list of the tours and who has the book, as well as what number they are on the tour. I'll try to update this weekly. I ask for your cooperation with this as the helpers will be emailing you if they noticed you haven't sent the book out or aren't sure if you did or not. Also, I need a few more people to help with this, so if you're interested, email me.

Please remember that you *must* leave a comment on the Book Locations tour or send an email to onearctours@yahoo.com when you receive a book for the tour and preferably when you send it out as well.

This is Me From Now On by Barbara Dee

Sometimes your life just needs a little jolt.

This is what Evie's new friend Francesca tells her, and soon enough, Evie's life has had something more like an earthquake. Francesca thinks life is dull unless you go after everything you want and say everything on your mind all the time--and sometimes that includes giving other people a little behind the scenes help to give them what she thinks they want.

Evie can't always tell if she's horrified or fascinated by everything Francesca convinces her to do, but ultimately, she comes to see friendship--and life--in a whole new light.

Restoring Harmony by Joelle Anthony

The year is 2041, and for Molly McClure, her life is pretty much the same as it’s always been. She was only six when the Collapse of ’31 happened, ending life as the world’s population knew it. When she is forced to leave the comfort of her home and small island in British Columbia to travel down to Oregon, Molly discovers how hard the Collapse has been on the rest of the world.

What starts out as a quick trip to the U.S. to convince her grandfather to return to Canada and be the island’s doctor, turns into a rescue mission, a test of Molly’s strengths, ingenuity, and sheer determination. Will a farm girl like Molly survive in this upturned world? Will she be able to return with her grandpa in time for him to help her ailing mother? And just how much will she have to compromise to succeed in getting back to B.C.?

Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus

Since her sister’s mysterious death, Persephone “Phe” Archer has been plagued by a series of disturbing dreams. Determined to find out what happened to her sister, Phe enrolls at Devenish Prep in Shadow Hills, Massachusetts—the subject of her sister’s final diary entry. After stepping on campus, Phe immediately realizes that there’s something different about this place—an unexplained epidemic that decimated the town in the 1700s, an ancient and creepy cemetery, and gorgeous boy Zach—and somehow she’s connected to it all. But the more questions she asks and the deeper she digs, the more entangled Phe becomes in the haunting past of Shadow Hills. Finding what links her to this town…might cost her her life.

Must Be Nice by Anthony Federico

In colleges across the country, 97% of 'next-morning' stories are exaggerated and embellished. In the mind's eye of the teller, the average is replaced by the astounding. Co-eds become sultrier, beers are chugged faster and epic nights stretch on infinitely. It is this subtle extra, this slight enhancement of every vivid detail, which gives the topic “College” its brilliant cache as it recedes gently into one's memory bank under the category “Glory Days.” This is one of those stories.

A glorious season of spring softball provides the setting for Must Be Nice. Kev and his closest friends are second-semester college seniors, poised on the threshold of graduation and the unfamiliar world beyond. Line drives and double plays are blurred together with cheap liquor and final exams as college comes to its inevitable and unforgettable end. Set against a backdrop of wild parties, lazy afternoons and beer league softball, Kev must come to grips with the end of his untroubled collegiate reality and flash forward to the impending newness of “real life.”

The Red Umbrella by Christina Gonzalez

The Red Umbrella is the moving tale of a 14-year-old girl's journey from Cuba to America as part of Operation Pedro Pan—an organized exodus of more than 14,000 unaccompanied children, whose parents sent them away to escape Fidel Castro's revolution.

In 1961, two years after the Communist revolution, Lucía Álvarez still leads a carefree life, dreaming of parties and her first crush. But when the soldiers come to her sleepy Cuban town, everything begins to change. Freedoms are stripped away. Neighbors disappear. Her friends feel like strangers. And her family is being watched.

As the revolution's impact becomes more oppressive, Lucía's parents make the heart-wrenching decision to send her and her little brother to the United States—on their own.

Suddenly plunked down in Nebraska with well-meaning strangers, Lucía struggles to adapt to a new country, a new language, a new way of life. But what of her old life? Will she ever see her home or her parents again? And if she does, will she still be the same girl?

The Red Umbrella is a moving story of country, culture, family, and the true meaning of home.
